Title of artwork: Shooting Holes At The Moon

What’s it about? I have been obsessively adding cloud imagery into my work recently. What started off as kind of a joke about a dream I had, morphed into a full-on fervor. Clouds can conjure so many feelings, both positive and negative, but also exist as a tangle of cliched metaphors for what we think we want and need. This piece is one of the first where I incorporated readily available craft supplies-in this case, perler beads, in order to change the plane of the painting. I like how the repetitive patterns stenciled onto the service work with the pixelated flattened plastic shapes to completely obliterate all the soft, comfortable squishiness we normally associate with clouds.

Where else can we find your work? I have work in a show that I co-curated coming up in September at Beacon Gallery in SOWA. The website and Instagram are the best places for updates on new work. I also sell prints and products through Society6.

.What have you learned about your creative practice over the last year? The time you spend thinking about the work is just as important, if not more, than the time you spend making the work.

A piece of advice you would give to your pre-pandemic self: Don’t take anything for granted! Make time for your friends and family, go see that band, take that trip. Oh, and clear work/personal boundaries are KEY.

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area?  I have always been partial to Bessie the Rhino at SMFA.

What would your last meal be? Mexico City style quesadillas with all the fixin’s.

Go-to karaoke song? Patience by Guns N’ Roses/ More Than Words by Extreme

Last show you binge watched? Adventure Time

Place in Allston/Brighton that you have missed the most? Deep Ellum/Lone Star Taco.
