HOPE HOWARD

 

Hope is an artist and self taught printmaker in Waltham MA. Their work balances edgy design and hard elements with soft and vibrant color palettes. Hope draws inspiration from the natural world around her, traditional tattoo design, and her own spiritual and divination practice. Hope also teaches screen printing at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education.

Born: Princeton, ME

Currently lives: Waltham, MA

Title of artwork: “Safe Keeping”

What’s it about? This piece is a reflection of healing my heart after a long period of loss and burnout. I found myself creating a safe space for my heart to heal, but that comfort can easily turn into captivity. This is for everyone with a passionate heart stuck in safe keeping.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off? Laying in a field of grass, laughing with friends.

What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years? There is no right or wrong way to do anything, and to have more fun!

What is a piece of advice you would give to your past self as a young artist? Stay true to yourself and your vision, and don’t drop out of college! (Whoops!)

What is your dream project to work on? Set and prop design for music videos.
